Responsible Suppliers: Paving the way for ethical and environmental landscaping
As suppliers of the highest quality paving slabs and block paving materials, we're committed to ensuring that any products you acquire from us are made and sourced in way that is environmentally friendly and ethically produced.
In recent years, landscaping suppliers have – quite rightly – come under closer attention for their legal and ethical obligations to customers and suppliers worldwide. In particular, concerns have been raised about obtaining materials from unsafe quarries in India and China.
For well over a decade, we have focused our efforts on developing a sustainable supply.
As part of Aggregate Industries, our main suppliers, Bradstone and Charcon are at the forefront of developing a sustainable commercial practice for domestic and commercial landscaping materials.
As a business which prides itself on excellent customer relations, we take your trust in us very seriously.
In light of the above, we have worked closely with globally renowned organisations and certifiers to ensure that your landscaping projects are ethically sourced and backed by leading monitoring bodies.
The Responsible Source – A World First!
Responsible sourcing is about measuring and managing the specific environmental, social and economic impacts of any products, taking into account all elements including:
- Manufacturing Process
- Delivery
- Use
- Reuse
- Recyclability
We're proud to say that Aggregate Industries is the first company in the world to achieve BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing Certificate from BRE Global.
This unique recognition means you can have absolute confidence that your purchases with us are responsibly sourced and meet the highest standards of sustainability in the industry. You don't just know what you're getting – you know where you're getting it from.
Ethical Trading Policy
The Ethical Trading Initiative has helped deliver fair pay and safe conditions for workers worldwide since their founding twenty years ago.
Their ethical trading logo, which we proudly associate ourselves with, is your assurance that every paving stone and brick we provide is sourced according to strict ethical criteria.
We work closely with global suppliers to support the principles of the UN Global Compact and the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) base code.
This is reflected in our policy and code of practice that aims to ensure that, together with our suppliers, we fulfil our obligations and responsibilities in order to maintain long-term benefits to all parties.
Examples of the criteria we insist upon with our suppliers:
- Provision of a safe and healthy workplace.
- Prohibition of child labour.
- Paying wages which meet or exceed national legal standards.
- Provision of employments rights.
- Prohibition of bonded or forced labour.
Carbon Labelling
We've joined an initiative piloted by The Carbon Trust that indicates a product's carbon footprint with a quick glance. No small print, no hidden data – we have worked with one of the industry's most respected governing bodies, the Building Research Establishment (BRE), to develop a system that calculates and labels the total CO2 and other greenhouse gases created during the life of a product, complete from production to use and disposal.
Carbon labelling not only speaks to our commitments to reducing carbon emissions, but helps our customers make more informed decisions and purchases.
To our customers and suppliers: we are devoted to pursuing fairness and sustainability while providing superlative paving and landscaping supplies, and proud of it.
